The effects of different substrates on the nutritional composition of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus sajor-caju)

Oyster mushroom were cultivated in controlled environment using different agricultural and forest waste. Experiment conducted six treatments viz. S1 (Red gram straw) S2 (Wheat Straw) S3 (Fallen leaf of Gum arabic tree + Custard apple+ Teak), S4 (Rice bran) S5, (Soybean S6, Palash Teak). The average yield Mushroom produced on each bed was noted. It is observed that the dry weight substrate S6 Teak) found more followed by treatment (76gm) than rest treatments. Biochemical study revealed moisture percent highest paddy straw (35.83%) whereas lowest noted grown (S6) fallen Teak (31.68%). crude fiber (18.63%) low (8.76%) mushrooms. ash (10.66%) obtained S5 (5.38%). protein content measured (12.24 mg/ml) for (10.28 varied range (12.20 – 10.35 mg/ml). This oyster mushrooms differ nutritional composition although belongs to same genus.
